The price of security depends mainly on the number of hours, the time of day and the guard's tasks. A guard staffing a reception during the day costs less than a guard patrolling a construction site at night.
Hourly rates
Security companies usually charge an hourly rate. Wages follow the collective labour agreement for private security, plus costs for scheduling, training, insurance and equipment. Surcharges often apply to:
- evening and night shifts;
- weekends and public holidays;
- short shifts of less than four hours.
Extra costs
When you ask for a quote, also ask about costs that are not in the hourly rate, such as travel, radios, a body camera or a dog handler.
Comparing quotes
The lowest price is not always the best choice.
